Stable Energy Source & Pricing for 28 Walker Development
A Benchmarking
Buildings Case Study
28 Walker Development
28 Walker Development partnered with MD Energy Advisors to secure a long-term, sustainable energy solution for Porter Street Apartments. By joining a 10 MW off-site solar farm, they achieved 4 million kWh in annual renewable energy production—ensuring stable pricing, reducing system maintenance, and supporting all-inclusive, eco-friendly living for residents.
Energy Problem
28 Walker Development is a Baltimore-based development company with a focus on smart urban infill development. When they built Porter Street Apartments, a 223-unit multifamily building, their goal was to deliver a sustainable project featuring all-inclusive living. To accomplish this, 28 Walker needed a stable energy source and pricing beyond a traditional multiyear energy contract.
Our Solution
The size of the roof at the apartment building was not large enough to feature a solar system capable of offsetting 100% of the on-site energy consumption. MD Energy Advisors recommended that 28 Walker join an off-site 10 MW photovoltaic solar farm along with National Geographic and the Washington Wizards to satisfy their energy needs.
